Creative destruction

“Creative destruction” is the term used by economist Joseph Scumpeter to describe competition in terms of the way new technologies, markets and institutions replace older ones.

    Don’t know if you read Horace Dediu’s blog (asymco.com). He’s written extensively on the disruptive nature of new technologies in the Mobile Space. I recall him referring to this term on a number of occasions.

    I originally got the term ‘creative destruction’ from an article in the Economist many years ago – it always struck a chord.

    For some reason I get a mental image of Pete Townsend sticking his guitar through an amplifier :-)
