IDC reports NZ PC sales were 22 percent higher in the first quarter of 2014 than the same period a year earlier. This is in stark contrast to the rest of the world which continues to report falling PC sales.

The research company forecasts NZ PC sales will see a six percent year-on-year increase for 2014 thanks to an expanding economy.

IDC singled out Chromebooks for a special mention. The company says increased demand from educational establishments boosted overall shipments.
