Snap extends UFB footprint
South Island-based ISP Snap says it has added the fibre regions serviced by Ultrafast Fibre to boost its UFB footprint.
The company is also adding areas on the Chorus network. It says it recently began operating in Palmerston North, Napier, Hastings and Rotorua. Taupo will join Snap’s coverage by the year end.
The company says it now offers fibre to 90 percent of New Zealand.
Ultrafast Fibre is the local fibre company covering parts of central North Island including the Waikato and Taranaki regions as well as Tauranga.
Snap says moving into Ultrafast Fibre territory means it now offers the most comprehensive UFB coverage in New Zealand. It also says more than a quarter of homes connected to the fibre network are its customers.
That’s quite a claim considering Snap is a relative minnow. In size it ranks behind New Zealand’s big four ISPs: Telecom NZ, Vodafone, CallPlus and Orcon.
